British Nepali rights workers freed after 8 days2014-09-09 13:30:59

Two british Human rights workers of Nepalese extraction detained in Qatar have been released after eight days.
Human rights researcher Krishn  Upadhaya and photographer Gundev Ghimere, ethnic Nepalese who hold British citizenship, were missing since last Saturday. The duo was employed by the Norway-based Global network for Rights and Development (GNRD) for the task.

Qatar had confirmed that the right workers were detained as they “violated the low of the land”. The Qatar I forget ministry issued a statement late on Sunday saying they were arrested for violating legal provisions.
After being freed, Upadhya and Ghimere update their status on social networking site face book posting about their release. ‘Just realized, will fly in two days time! We do not have mobile yet, so wait for our calls, Updhaya posted on his face book account.

Updhaya and Ghimire were supposed to depart from Qatar on August 31 but never boarded the plane. They also send message t their relatives mentioning about their release and followed by plainclothesmen, which have the GNRD a lead to suspect their arrest. They had been conducting a research on the working conditions of migrant laborers.
