As per to statistics provided by CNP 11,380 of them were domestic visitors and 6,106 were from South Asian nationals. CNP had welcomed 59,538 visitors in the same period of 2013/14.

Suman Ghimire, 1st vice president of Regional Hotel Association of Nepal (RHAN) Chitwan said rising flow of tourists to CNP and neighboring regions has encouraged local tourism entrepreneurs “This year we received significant number of tourist even during off season. Most of them were Chinese,” Ghimire added.

Ghimire further added that more tourists are visiting CNP as the national park is rich in dissimilar species of flora and fauna. “Apart from natural diversity and wildlife, culture and lifestyle of the local Tharu people is the other attraction for tourists visiting the national park,” he added.

Earlier, hotels and resorts near the national park used to close during off season (July-August) due to drop in tourist arrivals. The scenario, however, has changed in the past five years, according to hoteliers.

Statistics of CNP shows tourists footfalls in the national park is high during September –October. Average arrival during the period has hovered above 20,000 in the past five years.

Though there are 10 entry points to Chitwan National Park—a UNESCO World heritage Site, Suaraha is more popular among foreign tourists.
