Everest Base Camp Trek

Enjoy your adventure to world’s highest peak known as Everest Base Camp Trek where you can collect lifetime memory. Basically the trek to south Base Camp of Mt Everest also a great opportunity to gain knowledge of renowned Sherpa and their culture along with view of snow covered peaks.

Basically the EBC trekking starts with swiping flight of 30 to 35 minutes to Lukla airport from Kathmandu. Your focus will be surely the Everest Peak which stands on the elevation of 8,848 meters.  Following Doudhkoshi River and enjoying a two nights in Namche town and passing Tengboche Monastery and Dingboche no tree village and finally you reach Base Camp. Feel proud to follow the same steps which were followed by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hilary. In starting days you pass farming fields, customary villages, cultural Buddhist Stupa and monasteries but last few days it’s pretty similar like deserts with no trees and less oxygen area with encounter of mountain goats, dissimilar types of birds, mountain goats.

The main highlighted peaks during the trek are Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt Amadablam, mount Lhotse (8,501m) Mt Makalu (8,463m) Mt. Cho Oyu (8,153m). Beware of selecting right company with professional informative guide and porter which is important to make your trip memorable and satisfactory.

How difficult is Everest Base Camp Trek

Most hikers think often either they are able to walk up to base camp of Everest or not but simply our answer is yes you can! As long as you are in good health condition and able to walk 5 to 6 hours a day slowly (No matter of your age) you easily can do it. Drinking at least 2 to 3 bottle of water per a day and taking several rests while you walking helps a lot get there. But still if you are worried just do normal morning hiking and normal Gym exercise is enough. Someone who had long tern disease such like heart and lung problems are not able to do this trek. Please inform us if you are suffering from any problems before you book trip with us.

Acclimatization and elevation

Kathmandu, which is capital of Nepal situated on the elevation 1300 meters already. The Lukla Airport situated on the elevation of 2860 meters. Just think you are the person who coming from lowland! Here is another note to consider the highest point of trek is Kalapathar situated on elevation of 5545 meters and Everest Base Camp is 5364 meters! It means you might feel uneasy.

So, here we have kept you two extra days known as acclimatization days in Namche and Dingboche which are compulsory even you are experienced altitude trekkers. Crossing over 800 meters per a day without rest and acclimatization may create altitude sickness even for experienced trekkers.

Weather and climate

The weather mainly depends on what time of year you preparing this trip. Basically, March, April, May in spring season and September, October and November in autumn season considered as Best time with clear sky and blooming flowers all time. However The Everest base camp trek can be done all time of year.  The months December, January and February is cold months and still the morning weather stays clear. The rest monsoon months get covered by cloud and mornings might get clear. Spring and autumn month’s temperature stays 10 to 20 degree Celsius and winter it gets frizzing cold and goes up to -10 degree Celsius at night and even in day if it’s cloudy.  Monsoon months are comparatively warmer then winter.

Meals and accommodations

There won’t be lack of food during EBC trek. Either you can enjoy Nepal’s national dish called ‘Dal Bhat’ or any type of International cuisine. Entire hotels and tea houses are able to prepare quality Pizza to hot chocolate and apple pie to puddings. Any type of Indian, Mexican, American and continental cuisine can be ordered from their menu. In some village type of hot bread are available too. But it’s suggested to have fresh meals by taking advice of your trek guide.

Along with trek, the villages like Lukla, Fakding, Namche Bazar offers fancy hotels with 3 or 4 star services. However please note they charge similar price to 5 star hotels in your home town. The normal tea houses and lodges are also clean and comfortable to sleep. Consider the toilets and showers will be outside of your room and it’s shared with other trekkers.

Permits and Fees

To enter Everest national park the government of Nepal charges 3390 (about USD 34) rupees as entrée permit fees for each trekkers which should be obtained from national park fee counter In Bhrikuti Mandam, Kathmandu or Jorshalle (before Namche) check post counter. The fees of 2000 (About USD 20) Nepali rupees as local municipality fees w will be charged to enter the Everest region.

Equipment and packing

Don’t worry! Just prepare bellow listed packing clothing and equipment, you will be fine enough.

  • Sleeping bag, down jacket and Hiking boots
  • To keep you walk a pair of thermal sweater.
  • Tow pair of hiking paints and socks 4 pairs at least 
  • Hiking bags, Sun cream, Sun hat, Sun glass, Lip guard
  • Other normal wearing as like your home if needed

Our some advice for Everest Base Camp Trek

  • Drink enough water – approximately 2 to 3 liter a day 
  • Be self confident and think positive 
  • Postponed your physical relationship with your partner while you are in high elevation 
  • Drink safe water and eat fresh meals – Guide will advise you 
  • Don’t drink too much alcohol and smoke less 
  • Take the simple first aid medical kid box – Our guide will have first aid medical kid box too 
  • Don’t sleep during the day time

Day 03: Morning flight to Lukla (2860m) and trek to Fakding (2610m) – 4 hours walking
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 6 hours walking 
Day 05: acclimatization day -   Hike to Everest View Hotel (3860m) and return Namche 
Day 06: Trek to Tyangboche (3867m) 6 hours walking – Evening visit to Monastery 
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4358m) – 6 hours walking 
Day 08: Acclimatization day – Hike to Chhukung village and return 
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4,928m) – 6 hours walking 
Day 10: Trek to Goreksheep (5180m) and continue to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and return – 8 hours walking 
Day 11: Morning hike to Kalapathar (5545m) and trek down to Pheriche (4200m) 7 hours walking 
Day 12: Trek back to Namche – 6 hours walking 
Day 13: Trek to Lukla – 6 to 7 hours walking 
Day 14: Morning flight to Kathmandu and rest or shopping 
Day 15: Departure from Kathmandu toward your won destination
