For those people who are familiar around Everest Base Camp trekking area is not just walking to get massive Himalayan range.  Surely the adventure to Everest base camp from Kathmandu Nepal is interesting trip of life time. Once you done the trek and returns home the memories you collect remains you for life time.

Well, main importantly entire operators for Everest Base Camp has quite similar itinerary but the one who has experienced team and if they have designed itinerary with some side trip and acclimatization days that would help this trip to finish fruitfully.

As a whole, there are several options for accommodations, like tea houses and lodges are easily available. If you could afford for luxury accommodations, there are world class hotels available for almost half trek nights with entire western facilities. As EBC is popular trekking destination of Nepal the most of the villages has Wi-Fi services, hot and cold shower. If you do not wish to sleep at tea houses, camping tented accommodations easily can be organized.

Depending on the amount of money you wish to spend – same trip can be done in several ways as it mainly depends what type of accommodation you wish to accommodate. The places like Lukla, Fakding,  Namche, Syangboche etc has luxury hotels. But the towns like Pheriche, Thagnak, Goreksheep and Dzongla has limited hotels and you might have to share rooms with unknown or even have to sleep inDRRE dining hall.

The most amazing part of the region is Hotel Everest View and which is five star hotels located in the highest place in the world in Syangboche airport. Hot shower facilities are available every town with around 3 dollars however the cold shower is free.  The electricity is available most of the town and solar power is in every villages. It’s necessary to carry head light during the trek.  Camera and batteries can be charged in every town with paying. The owners may charge up to $ 4 for an hour of charge. Mobile chip card are available with 3G services which works almost to Base Camp.

Permits and Fees

There is no any special permits requires to get Everest National Park but there are few permits should be obtained before your trip. Everest National park costs USD 34 with taxes. Government register trekking agencies easily obtain the National Park permit and you also may obtain by yourself in Jorshlle village. If you have plan to travel East Part in Makalu Barun National park region you are require other permits too. 

TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) is needed to enter the region of Everest and now days the local government of Local municipality fees of Rs 2000 each trekkers compulsory.

Getting there

Mainly there are two options to enter Everest region. Main and popular way to reach there is by flight to Lukla. Every day during the main season month like March, April, May and September, October and November over 400 trekkers takes their flight to Lukla to start trek to Everest Base Camp.

Another way is drive to Jiri and further and walking to Base Camp in about 15 days. There are another few airports as gate way to Everest region. You may start from Sallery and Phaplu airport but which is not much popular option.  The luxurious tourists fly to Hotel Everest View directly by helicopter and stay there for few nights and some start their trek from Hotel Everest View to Base Camp.

Culture and people

Mainly the Everest region is covered by Sherpa people who are locals but Limbu, Magar and tamang settlements can be found in region. The Sherpa’s are legend for climbing the peaks and all mountains over 8000 meters. The climbing records so far are on the name of legendry Sherpa. Tengboche village has biggest monasteries of the country and you will also acknowledge Sherpa culture.

Meals and drinks

During your Everest Base Camp trek you don’t have to worry about food as any national and international meals will be served along with hot drinks. Nepalese traditional meals called “Dal Bhat” is served everywhere. All lodges prepare quality Pizza to sizzler, hot chocolates and coffees, apple pie to rice pudding.  You can choose any Indian, Italian, Chinese and Tibetain food from menu.

Supper best time and months

Nepal is seasonal country for travel. The best 6 months are March, April, May, September, October and November. In these months sky is clear, cozy, and rhododendron blossoms and weather is best in Himalayan region of country.

Winter and monsoon are also good months and mainly depends on your luck too. It will be very cold in winter and may rain during the day in monsoon season. But, during the morning weather is clear.
