International Kite Festival Held in Bharuch2014-01-12 11:14:58

Kite-flyers from various parts of the nation and the world took part in the 26th international kite festival that was held here on Friday. Over 47 kite-flyers from different parts of country and seven from Ukrain, Russia, and France came to Bharuch and flew kites of all sizes and shapes in the presence of thousands of people who had gathered at the Hostel Ground near panchbatti.
An international kite festival was held in Bharuch for the first time. Such festivals are held at five different district locations in the state.

Gujarat tourism Corporation chairman Kamlesh Patel said, “Such festivals are being held in Gujarat for the past many years to attract tourists from across the world.
The state has recorded an income of Rs. 550 crore from tourism sector. Gujarat Tourism Corporation, Which earlier was running in losses, recorded a profit of Rs 34 caror in the year 2012-13.
Kite-making has become a Rs. 150 caror cottage industry from Rs 10 caror a decade ago. Patel informed 37 projects are in the pipeline which envisages developing tourist places located in various parts of Gujrat.
