Ancient kingdom of world’s hidden kingdom, Mustang is isolated region of Nepal with highly potted Tibetan culture with traditional civilization. The Tibetan culture has been mostly preserved. Because of the army conflict the Mustang trek was opened on 1992 and it’s quite late to open for international trekkers compared to other treks in Nepal.

However the region is on the lap of Himalayas it is covered by snowcapped Himalayan peaks and deserts. Hiking around Mustang is privilege. Less travelled upper mustang trek is less known too. The permits and fees are considered as expensive. Only for 10 days permits it costs USD 500 per person and you must be in two members in the group.

If you prefer to experiences different region of Nepal and less travelled, this would be perfect place. The unique landscape, panoramic beauty and traditional life style of locals impress you lot. As its restricted region of Nepal and protected by government it’s not possible to trek yourself.  Someone who prefers to visit upper mustang must obtain permit for two different counter including Annapurna conservation permit and Mustang permit.

Normally, the trek starts from Jomsom but there are several options for this trek, either you start from POkhara by drive to Kagbeni, and drive all the way to Lomanthang and return is possible these days. Pokhara can be reached by road or flight from Kathmandu.

During the all time of year Mustang Trek is recommended to travel as its rain shadow region of Nepal but end of November to till end January is preferable time. Tiji festival time is best to visit. Approximately you must prepare about USD 2000 per person to done this trek.  If you are two member or above the guides price and porters prices can be shared and becomes cheaper trip. 
Normal itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Day 02: Kathandu to Pokhara

Day 03: Pokhara to Jomsom (2,713m) flight to Kagbeni (2,810m)
Day 04: Trek to Chussang (2,920m) – 6 hours walk

Day 05: Trek to Samar (3,290m) – 6 to 7 hours walk

Day 06: Trek to Ghiling (3,600m) 6 to 7 hours
Day 07: Trek to Tsarang (3,520 – 6 to 7 hours

Day 08: Trek to Lo-Manthang (3,780m) – 5 hours
Day 10: Rest or explore day of Lo-mangthang.

Day 10: Trek to Ghami (3,440m0 6 to 7 hours walk
Day 11: Trek to Samar – 4 to 5 hours walk

Day 12: Trek to Yak Kharka, - 5 to 6 hours walk

Day 13: Trek to Muktinath (3,710m) – 4 Hours walk
Day 14: Trek to Jomsom ( 5 hours)
Day 15: Fly to Pokhara 

Day 16: drive or fly to Kathmandu
Day 17: Depart Kathmandu
